Relax With Aromatherapy
There's a whole new world out there for you with aromatherapy. Whether you are feeling washed out from a hectic day and need to unwind, or need a little pick-me-up to get you through the day, there's an essential oil out there for you.
Each essential oil has its own individual property and is used for different reasons. But whatever you need there is an oil out here fo you. If its a bit of get up and go you need to add some Basil to your morning bath or at the end of the day unwind with some Vetivert.
Aromatherapy is all about inhaling aromas through the nose which then trigger off something in the brain that can affect your mood and state of mind. Volitile oils are extracted from plants and then used in different methods for us to experience. You can add oils to a diffuser in your room, or to get them directly into your skin and muscles they can be mixed with a carrier oil and given as a massage or added to your bath water.
You can use one of four methods. All work effectively to suit your needs:
Add drops of oil to your bath water
Add oils to your room diffuser according to instructions
Use some oil for a massage
Use some oil as an air freshener
If you want to relax in your hot tub, add no more than 10 drops of oil or mixture of oils to your water and soak away the stress. If its a massage you prefer add up to 6 drops of oils to a carrier oil of your choice, Jojoba is a good all round carrier. It's important not to use essential oils neat on your skin as they will burn. Essential oils make a great air freshener. Mix some with plain water or a combination of water and a high proof alcohol like Vodka, put into a spray bottle and there you have it. The alcohol is there to help the fragrance last longer, but don't try drinking it! Diffusers and burners are the most popular method where you just add a few drops to the water.
Another great way of enjoying aromatherapy is by burning candles. They not only smell great but look nice too. When buying them you may not think they smell very strong and go for the more powerful smell of a fragrant candle. Don't...! You will not get the full aroma until the candle is lit, as the aromas are realeased from the molten wax. Fragrant candle smell nice, but they don't have the same relaxing properties...
For the more creative of you why not try making your own aromatherapy candles? Add a mix of your favourite essential oils to the molten wax for your desired effect. If you don't want to make them from scratch, then add a couple of drops of oil to a fragrant-free candle that is burning and you will get the same effect.
There are hundreds of oils to choose from and even more combinations. You can ease your anxiety, and introduce happiness and peace into your household. Aromatherapy can even help with a good night's sleep and sooth arthritic joints, all by mixing a few amazing oils! It's that simple!
